California public schools participate in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium.  Many Reef-Sunset students took tests this past spring.  You can read more about these tests and see sample items at this website:

Students also take other tests.  Do you know what these are?  The CA Dept of Education lists the various State tests online:

These tests formerly included:  CST (CA Standards Test), CELDT (California English Language Development Test), CAHSEE (CA High School Exit Examination), PFT (Physical Fitness Test).  Students with special needs may be given alternate versions of tests.

 

Some of these tests will no longer be given due to changes in CA law.

 

Ask teachers and administrators for specific testing dates so that you can make sure your children are in school, properly rested, and ready to do their best.
